Nature (Official Video)

Format: Digital music video with archival footage. Length: 5 minutes 27 seconds.

“Nature” is a love song, but it’s a selfish love song. It refers directly to the relationship my partner has with the natural world—and, in particular, to his ability to find in its many wonders stimulation, wonder, and solace. I’m not sure how I would manage if I were to outlive him. But I suspect that nature would, as the song’s lyrics suggest, “hold” and “keep” him if I were to die first. This video makes use of footage from one Prelinger Archives film in particular: Sylvan Holiday in Pennsylvania (c. 1950s), a Kodachrome kaleidoscope of tourists accessing the natural wonders of the Keystone State.
