“Only connect,” E.M. Forster’s famous maxim from his 1910 novel Howard’s End, informed Breaking Story, my first full-length screenplay. This drama mapped the various connections—or attempts at connections—that three characters from very different walks of life are driven to make (or have made for them by the media) over the course of one week in New York City and New Jersey.
