Whole Life

Unproduced screenplay. Revised draft: April 12, 1999. Length: 124 pages.

Whole Life centers on a young couple, Ned, an insurance salesman, and Denise, a housewife, who are struggling to form typical lives in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. The screenplay is about belief systems, their function in our personal lives, and their role in society. Our belief in our jobs, our ambitions, our families, our various religions are, after all, the foundation of our entire motivational systems, of all of our behavior. Do we choose them, or do they choose us?  Are they, as post-structuralists might suggest, meaningless constructs fabricated of necessity to support the means of production? Or are they, as existentialists might offer, the very heart of our lives--the choice which makes us who we are?
