I was honored to be invited by artist Kerri Scharlin to partipate in one of the fantastic salons she organizes periodically in her studio and home in downtown Manhattan. This installment, which took place on Monday, September 23, 2024, focused on, and celebrated, independent alternative arts publications. Joining me for a panel discussion on the topic were artist and Elephant magazine editor Tschabalala Self; gallerist and Umm... founding editor and publisher Tif Sigfrids; and Amanda Gluibizzi, the arts editor of The Brooklyn Rail. Kerri, whom I’ve known for 30 years, contributed a memorable artist’s project to the third issue of publicsfear in 1993.
