Esopus marked the release of its 20th issue, Esopus 20: Special Collections, at a packed event at the Museum of Modern Art sponsored by MoMA’s Archives and Library. The themed issue, which marked the tenth anniversary of Esopus, was devoted to institutional and personal archives, ranging from handwritten notes related to the production of Mad Men by its creator, Matthew Weiner, to photographs in the MoMA archive of sites painted by Monet by the esteemed curator and art historian William Seitz. The evening included presentations by MoMA’s Chief of Archives, Michelle Elligott; the museum’s Chief of Library, Milan Hughston; and myself.
