The song ”Appian Way” was a direct tribute to my friend Pamela A. Ivinski, who passed away in 2018. The track, a late addition to my second album after the Covid pandemic caused me to radically rethink most of the songs I’d written for the LP before lockdowns, was deeply personal, and I felt its subject matter was too close to me for me to be involved in the making of its music video. I reached out to Charlie Theobald, who had collaborated with me on my previous two videos, and invited him to create a short film inspired by the song. Charlie incorporated stop-motion photography and found footage to create a moving meditation on memory and loss.
