This song, one of several tracks for Yearbook that in the end didn’t make the cut, was written during the 2020 election cycle. Its subject was the (mostly male, and mostly white) politicians on both sides of the aisle who, from my perspective, dismissed the concerns of marginalized voters or—perhaps even worse—claimed to be on their side, but made empty promises motivated only by the cynical goal of securing their votes. The video is framed tightly on the eyes of dozens of public figures including Lindsey Graham, Bill Clinton, Rupert Murdoch, and Steve Bannon.
